Yep! No one knows how powerful enough is Famine since he's lowering his power... but still has no idea on loosing... (This affects the handicap for fighting him)
The rules are here:
1- For every victory or defeat, your character will get a
certain number of points. A victory means 3 points. A defeat means 1 point.
When a character reaches or surpasses 10 points (3-4 consecutive victories or
several lost battles), Famine will launch a challenge to that character.
2- Famine battles cannot be rejected. Is a challenge for
good writers or writers who haven’t had enough luck in the battles.
3- The story has a rule or handicap called “impress”.
Your character must fight the best he or she can, but since Famine will go with
enough power to defeat anyone, the challenged one will lose. This to show the
capacity of you writers not only to show off as always the victorious but to
show you also can be humble and show your character being defeated honorably.
4- Amount of damage: In the story you can let your
character receive any amount of damage you desire, even receive little damage
and finish the battle after 1-3 pages with Famine doing something like draining
all your energy. Of course, Remember there’s a rule for not killing others,
which applies to the inverse here: you must not let Famine kill your character
since that would be off character for him (He’s tied to not killing for the
fighting club).
5- After the battle, the point counter keeps and won’t be
reduced back to 0. For another battle against Famine you must earn another 20
points (When you have 30 points in total), for a third 30 more points (When you
reach 60 points in total) and so on.
6- Reaching the points is not the only way to get a
Famine Challenge. If you write really awesome stories you might get the
challenge.
7- Famine
Battles earn no points, only the victory.
8- As any regular battle there will be votes in this one. In them, people will decide if the fighter wrote a good enough story to let Famine give away the victory with honors... if you think the story is not that good, Famine will give away the victory but menacing he'll fight the fighter again to see how much he or she has improved.
